Ride Forever Training Program
In November 2012, ACC launched their Ride Forever National Training Program. This initiative is targeted at improving rider safety on New Zealand roads by giving riders a better understanding of the capabilities of themselves and their bike.
The training is held in small groups (no more than 6 riders) by NZTA accredited trainers and is focused on increasing riding skill through both theory and on-road training. As such, 70% of the course is delivered on road using the rider's own bike.
To make sure there is something to suit all riders, ACC have put together a range of courses, and these are available for all New Zealand riders with a motorcycle licence for a nominal booking fee (paid to the course provider):
- Bronze 8 hours training ($20 booking fee) - this full day course is ideal for riders on a Learner or Restricted licence.
- Silver 8 hours training ($50 booking fee) - ideal for riders looking to advance to the Full licence, or as a refresher for returning riders.
- Gold 8 hours training ($50 booking fee) - suited to experienced riders looking to hone specific technical riding skills.
- Urban Commuter / Scooter Survival 4 hours training ($20 booking fee) - this half day course is for those who ride mostly in an urban environment.
